Welcome to Edmond
Please use this guide to help you discover some of my favorite Edmond spots.
Shopping :
Who does not love a little retail therapy every now and again? Edmond has plenty of options from big box retailers like Target and Kohls, to upscale boutiques like Chicos and Ann Taylor. But in addition to those chain stores there are a few local shoppes worth a visit. Francesca's in Spring Creek is a fun place to go for a gift for a girl friend, teenage daughter, or mom. Best of Books is my favorite book store. They have book signings and readings for kids on a regular basis. If they don't have what your looking for, let them know. They sometimes can order for you. Fashion Boutique in downtown Edmond always has fun and trendy clothes. Popular shopping centers in the OKC metro include;
- Penn Square Mall is found at NW Expressway and Penn. The major department stores there are Macy's, JCPenney, and Dillard's. There are many specialty shops at Penn Square including Coach, Pottery Barn, and more.
- Near Penn Square is Belle Isle Station where you can find Old Navy, Walmart, and more.
- Quail Springs Mall is found north of Memorial between Penn and May. The major department stores there include Macy's, Dillard's, JCPenney and Sears.
- Outside of Quail Springs Mall you can find Ross, Westies, Old Navy, Target, DSW Shoes, Walmart, and more.
Grocery:
You have to have the staples in the house. Without milk and toilet paper many households come to a screeching halt! Mine included! So where to shop for the food and other essentails in Edmond?
-
Target on 2nd Street and Bryant is my personal favorite.
-
There are 2 Walmart SuperCenters and 2 Neighborhood Markets
-
Sam's Club at Pennsylvania & Memorial is great for those big hauls
-
To just run in and out for a few items I like Homeland and Williams
*Note, if you are not from Oklahoma you may not know that wine is not available in the grocery store. Only available at liquor stores.
Entertainment:
For an evening out or a date night there are some fun choices in Edmond.
-
Boulevard Steakhouse's Martini Lounge has the best happy hour in town.
-
Kickingbird Cinema features all first run movies at a convenient location. You don't have to walk through the mall to get a ticket either!
-
The UCO Jazz Lab is very cool. They have different performers there all the time.
-
During the summer the Edmond Parks & Recreation offer Summerstock at Mitch Park. Great outdoor theater and fun for the family.
Dining:
There are too many dining choices in Edmond to list. But here are my favorites.
-
For Breakfast try either Full Cup or have the breakfast casserole at Tropical Cafe.
-
For Lunch try Cafe' 501. The 501 salad is an all time favorite of mine!
-
For Dinner try Lottinville's. By far my favorite. If you go be sure to have the spinach artichoke dip to start with, it's the best. Then my favorite meal is the steak sandwich. My husband just loves their meatloaf, ask them to prepare it the old way!
-
For Dessert try Nikolette's Raspberries and Cream in NW OKC on May Avenue. Well worth the trip!
Fitness:
Several fitness options. If you are interested in joining a club to maintain your fitness goals.

-
I use the YMCA. They have 2 locations in Edmond and with a family membership youth sports are free. So it can add up to a considerable savings.
-
Aspen, I have several friends that work out there and they are very happy.
-
3rd Street Yoga, I have never been there but have heard good things. They also offer a wide variety of classes for the whole family. Even kids yoga.
Medical:
When you move to a new town the last thing you have on your mind is selecting a doctor. It's a personal decision I know. But if during the move someone gets sick here are a few suggestions.
-
Pediatrician, Dr.Crittenden at Mercy Health. 341-7009
-
Dentist, Dr. Brasher at Kickingbird Dental
-
Family Practice, Dr. Cail at Mercy Health 341-7009
-
4 legged family members, Woodland Trails Animal Hospital 340-9395
Mirror, mirror on the wall... Don't let a move to a new town keep you from taking care of yourself. My very favorite place to go is Cottonwood Salon and Spa. It's a full service salon so it's one stop shopping for all your needs. My favorite thing about Cottonwood is not only the quality of service but they really know how to pamper and make you feel special. It's always a treat to go there! And did I mention they are even open on Sundays!
Kiddos:
There is so much for kids to do in Edmond! Whether your kiddo is into organized sports, scouts, music, drama, martial arts, vocal music, cooking, reading, dance, pom, gymnastics, stamp collecting, or video games there is a place for them to get plugged in.
Call me at 405-615-2796, let me know what your kids are into and I will get the information you need to get them involved, making their transition easy as possible.
Edmond Schools:
In Edmond the two public school systems are Edmond Public Schools and Deer Creek Schools. Both are award winning districts. There are also several private schools and a network of home-school families.
If you are a multi-school family in Edmond Public Schools like we are, here is how kiddos move up through the school system to high school.
- Edmond North High School (The Huskies): If your child attends Centennial, Cross Timbers or Northern Hills elementary schools they will move on to Sequoyah Middle then Edmond North High. Students that attend John Ross elementary then attend Cheyenne Middle School then Edmond North. Ida Freeman elementary students will attend Central Middle School and then Edmond North.
- Edmond Santa Fe High School (The Wolves): Edmond kiddos that attend Charles Haskell, Angie Debo, or Westfield elementary schools will then go on to Summit Middle School and Santa Fe High School. Students at Sunset then attend Central Middle School and Santa Fe High School. Washington Irving students move up to Cheyenne then Santa Fe.
- Edmond Memorial High School (The Bulldogs): Students attending Orvis Risner or Chisholm elementary will go to Cimmaron Middle School then Edmond Memorial High School. And, Will Rogers students attend Central Middle School and finally Edmond Memorial High School.
